Sheriff Penguin version 2.0 is in town  unleashing new and improved  unique version 2.0 Algorithm Updates to all the folk affecting a whopping 2.3%  of English US search queries on the Google Index. This is quite a hefty change around so expect some movement in your rankings for better or worse.

This Penguin update is not just a data refresh, it adds new signals and algos. to shape things up a little.

The target is the usual SEO suspects shuffling along under the radar rorting the system.

Here is what to stop, reduce, settle down on:

  • Blog Farm Links
  • Effective Blog farm links
  • Less effective blog farm links
  • Advertorial Paid Links
  • Did I mention blog farm links
  • No more domains appearing more than once in the top 10 results in clusters

Here is what to excel at:

  • Quality Copywriting
  • Relevant Content
  • More relevant rankings for companies in their industry search queries

To know if you have been affected just measure your visitor numbers in Google Analytics or simply check you rankings in the index.

Keep an eye out for messages in Google WebMaster Tools.

If you need to rid your site of spammy links, use the Google disavow tool.
